Acum's License Purchase System

Writer: Ben IfrachBen Ifrach

01

Why do I need pay?

In the license system project, we were privileged to characterize for the first time an online system of licenses for Acum's users. Until the establishment of the system, reporting and payment were carried out in a rather cumbersome manner through faxes and telephone communication. We knew that such a system does not always gain popularity, since some users prefer to pay directly to artists and there are also those who prefer not to pay. We realized that we have another role in the project, which is to make users understand the need for the system and create a pleasant flow for them that will make the experience as simple as possible.

Enough is as good as a feast

Our main challenge in setting up the system was to succeed in producing a sufficiently generic system to contain over 30 different types of licenses which, despite this, manages to provide a high level of scanning (efficient and fast locating of the requested information) in order to maintain simplicity in the reporting process. To this end, we emphasized in the characterization process the experience of the potential users of the system, in a work process that varies between zoom in and zoom out with high frequency.

Music unites

We found that the key to finding the right formula is the common denominator that users share - music. We also found that the user experience takes on an additional volume of meaning due to the cumbersome process the users were used to, which required us to build a system that generates high trust among the user. The characterization process of the system was long and complex, but finally we created a system that manages to provide a positive user experience, fast flow between the steps and clarity.

What did we learn?

In our view, the Acum license system is further proof that a user experience can be so emotional, intuitive, complex and meaningful. From a situation of bureaucratic awkwardness that prevailed until the launch of the system, we were able to create a smooth, accessible and safe experience for our users. We found that during the process of purchasing the license - The focus on the high scans together with making the atmosphere light - led to the positive experience we were looking to give the various users. In addition, we were able to significantly neutralize the resistance that there was to the purchase process by making the process accessible to users in a serviceable manner and correctly explaining the need.
